Genevieve Flavelle is an artist, independent curator, and art historian based in Toronto. She holds a PhD in Art History from Queen’s University, with expertise in North American contemporary art and a focus on 2SLGBTQ+ artists and art histories. Her writing has appeared in art magazines, exhibition catalogues, and academic publications, including the Journal of Feminist Scholarship. She has taught courses in contemporary art and curating at Queen’s University and McMaster University.
As an independent curator, Flavelle has organized exhibitions in galleries and artist-run centres across Canada, most recently Celestial Bodies: Expanding Sexuality and Gender at the Campbell River Art Gallery (2023). She is currently Curator-in-Residence at Western University.
